A duck, a hawk and a heron.
Typical of potpourri there’s not much of a unifying theme here except each of my subjects has feathers in common and all five images illustrate something of interest (for me at least).
Goldeneyes in flight are a work in progress for me but I think I’m making some headway.
This is the only time I’ve ever been able to capture a series of photos of a Barn Owl during the landing process.
This quite young and still clumsy youngster almost seemed to enjoy showing off for me.
I rarely appreciate “accidental” birds in my photos competing with the primary subject. But there are exceptions and it happened twice with this landing American White Pelican.
I don’t believe I’ve ever seen such an impressive demonstration of power in flight from a bird. And then this eagle pulled off a spectacular landing.
For some reason I don’t see, or at least notice, the alulae (bastard wings) on eagles very often.
Photos of birds as they land are a challenge, especially when your subject is a quick little falcon.
I believe this first image may be only time I’ve ever managed a decent shot of an owl of any species during the landing process.
