When I first reported this unfortunate incident six days ago I told my readers the outcome would be one thing but it turned out to be something else. I feel I need to set the record straight with my readers.
Male kestrels may be a little flashier but females more than hold their own in the beauty department.
Some folks should never be allowed to operate a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Or perhaps any vehicle at all.
It’s been my intention to feature a juvenile or subadult Bald Eagle for a while now but unexpected events kept pushing those plans to the back burner.
I sometimes liken American White Pelicans to B–52 Stratofortresses – they often fly at great heights and they’re not very agile in flight but man are they ever impressive during landings.
Or perhaps it was a combination of revenge, anger and frustration. Or something else but I doubt it was simply play.
Sometimes the background and/or setting in my photos appeals to me as much or even more than the bird.
Staying balanced on a small perch can be a challenge, even for a bird known for its agility like the Northern Harrier.
