In a recent blog post I bellyached about driving 240 miles over five hours and not finding a single cooperative bird. I sure didn’t have that problem yesterday at Farmington.
I’ve been monitoring a Red-tailed Hawk nest in the mountains of Tooele County for at least 7 years now. It isn’t close to the road and I never approach it on foot to avoid disturbing the hawks but I have a good view of it through my long lens.
It’s my tendency to appreciate native bird species more than I do those that have been introduced but right or wrong I tend to make an exception for the California Quail.
For about half of the year most Chukars on Antelope Island are shy and inaccessible in more remote areas of the island but when spring rolls around they come out to play.
