In eleven years of blogging about birds I’ve only posted photos of a Rock Wren a single time and for very good reason – in their typically rugged habitat they simply refuse to allow a close approach. But two days ago I got one of the aggravating little rascals in my viewfinder.
I’ve photographed a variety of songbirds, wading birds and raptors throwing pellets but yesterday was the first time I’ve been able to document a wren of any species exhibiting the behavior.
Sometimes I think I focus on raptors too much and don’t give the songbirds their due. This little bundle of energy is my attempt at beginning to make amends.
Marsh Wrens don’t often sing on territory this time of year but they’re still fun to photograph on those rare occasions when they give you a relatively clear shot.
I’ve been waiting for the new edition of this book for a very long time. The second edition has been out of print for years and even used copies have been very difficult to come by.
