This is one of my roughly semiannual attempts to give my readers a feel for some of the birds I’ve been photographing recently that didn’t make it to my blog.
White-crowned Sparrows are common in my area but they’re a favorite of mine and I see far more juveniles than adults so I was pleased to get this handsome adult up close in my viewfinder.
When it comes to appreciation from humans this species already has two strikes against it when it steps up to the plate. It’s a sparrow and it’s “common”.
Except for a seemingly small but very aggravating detail this second photo might have been among my favorite songbird shots of all time, largely because of degree of difficulty and four unlikely strokes of good luck.
Please do not pin my images on Pinterest, Tumblr or any other pinning site or social media or use them for anything else without my express permission (and that includes using them as models for paintings, drawings or tattoos etc.).
